Dr. Uhrlass is a licensed psychologist in Connecticut and New York. She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Binghamton University and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in child and adolescent psychology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Payne Whitney Westchester.
Dr. Uhrlass specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of clinical expertise include cognitive and behavioral treatment approaches for anxiety and depression. She has worked in a number of specialty clinics for depression, anxiety, and OCD. Dr. Uhrlass also has extensive experience with peer relationship difficulties, major family transitions, adjustment problems, parenting issues, ADHD and oppositional behaviors, and trichotillomania (hair pulling). She is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art, empirically-supported treatments.
Dr. Uhrlass also serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She provides clinical supervision with psychiatry residents providing cognitive behavioral therapy.
Dr. Uhrlass has also conducted research focused on better understanding risk for depression and social anxiety. This work has focused on understanding the role of cognition in the development and maintenance of depression and social anxiety. She has published articles in several journals, including Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Cognitive Therapy and Research, and Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. In addition, she has presented her research at national conferences.
